What is your daily routine?

I am sure you must have heard that it takes 21 days to cultivate a habit. Habits are behavioural traits or patterns acquired by consistently participating in a particular activity. Research has it that the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt spends 90 minutes in the gym every day. He does workouts that are channelled towards improving his speed and stability on the track.

Habits cultivated are contributing factors; they can make or mar you. They are either positive or negative. Positive habits are exemplary habits that tend to improve your daily lives. However, it happens to be one of the slowest to imitate, cultivate or grow with — and it could be achieved when done consistently. 

A positive habit gears you up, thereby enabling you to sparkle your environment. Its benefits are measureless, your actions and attitudes become a thing worthy of emulation. Positive habits lead you towards perfection; for instance, it requires that you maintain a positive stance and affirmations such as I can, I will, and I must. If you will ever attain greatness, even in the littlest of things, it begins with possessing these traits. Be it weight loss, meeting up with an appointment, having a set goal to get an “A”, etc,  it all starts with a positive habit.

Negative habits, on the other hand, is the direct opposite of the aforementioned. It can be cultivated out of the influence of one’s parents, environment, youths, what you watch and listen to, etc. These acts usually begin subconsciously and then they become unconscious acts that are detrimental to one. Oftentimes, negative habits are rarely discovered as it takes a while to be seen except when duly observed. They are usually hard to stop and could hinder one from attaining a certain height. They may manifest in character, lack of exercises, body misconduct, sitting posture, etc.

Finally, the only way to either cultivate a good habit or end a bad one is by intentionality. Although they might have happened subconsciously, it takes intentionality to effect a change and according to research, it takes 90 days to break such. It is also crucial to state that while good habits help to fit you into the picture you envision, bad habits drag you down the drain so it is important that we take necessary steps to keep our vision on track.
